Up until 6th July 10th - 15th July : Special Art at Brewery Arts, Brewery Court, Cirencester, GL7 1JH, Two very different exhibitions will be taking place in the Theatre at New Brewery Arts this summer. Local Special Schools will be exhibiting the work of pupils from 15 June to 6 July. Always a fantastic show of talent, you’ll find everything from sculpture to textiles to colourful paintings and collage. Schools include Shrubberies, Paternoster, Amberley Ridge, Sandford, Alderman Knight, Bettridge and Marlborough House Adolescent Unit. Following this, from 10 to 15 July the students at New Brewery Arts will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills. A range of craft including ceramics, sculpture, textiles, painting and drawing will be on display. Up to Friday 16th July: ‘Walking the Cotswold Way’ by Janet Parkinson. This is the second in a series of ArtWorks exhibitions at Cirencester Hospital restaurant. Local artists exhibit their work, and 20% of any sales made goes straight to Gloucestershire PCT Charitable Funds. 2.00-5.00pm each day (including weekends). Parking and admission are FREE. Saturday 3rd July –  Sunday 22nd August: Make It Magical Mechanical. New Brewery Arts, Cirencester. This summer the gallery at New Brewery Arts will be transformed into the extraordinary Mechanical World of Robert Race, one of the country’s leading makers of automata. Robert has been creating moving objects for over thirty years incorporating natural, re-used and recycled materials. With the addition of simple mechanisms, he creates moving stories full of life, wit and energy. In a world increasingly dominated by digital technology it is a pleasure to explore Robert’s simple mechanical pieces, some over 8 feet tall and many inspired by the traditional moving toys he has come across on his extensive travels. Robert will be showing work created especially for this exhibition including a large wall mounted piece incorporating discovered wooden bell wheels! Major touring pieces like the incredible ‘Seaside Machine’ will also be there to delight visitors. FREE ADMISSION Mon – Sat 9am – 5pm, Sundays 10am – 4pm

Wednesday 14th July: 'Clothes Customisation and Hair Accessories Workshop'. This is all about getting creative without a sewing machine, making changes to clothing and creating fun hair accessories and fascinators. Rosie Parker, Contemporary Textile Designer, will demonstrate how to make ruffles and ruches in clothes, re-invent old at-shirts or tops, create cute flowers and bows from fabric remnants which can be used for brooches, hair pieces or cushion detail, funky hair bands from tights and more. A fascinator making demo and materials available on the night to create fascinators for your forthcoming summer weddings.

Thursday 15th July: 7.30 – 9.30pm. Pop, folk, gospel, world songs and more! Taster sessions led by Invoice from Swindon Scratch Choir. £10 per session to include refreshments. A relaxed, friendly approach focused on singing for pleasure - no experience needed no auditions and ability to read music not necessary. No need to book – just turn up! Saturday 17th July: Music & Cider Festival, Horse & Jockey, Ashton Keynes. From 3-10pm, when six local bands and a vast selection of best British ciders will be on hand to entertain you right through the evening. A BBQ and salad bar provided by the Horse & Jockey will be available – profit from which will go to Help for Heroes. Approximate timings:  3pm Wiltshire Saxophone Choir – 16 saxophones of all shapes and sizes. 4pm Spangles – classy jazz from this local quintet. 5pm Big Brunch Band - plays funky big band jazz. 6pm Siren Sisters – cool cabaret style vocal group. 7pm Take 2 – folk duo. 8pm Sunny Side Up – eight piece rhythm and blues band.

Sunday 18th July: MJ-Uk and Bel Canto present Scenes. 7.30pm, Barn Theatre, Beeches Road. A Young Artists Production showcasing the talents of beautiful voices under the direction of well known opera singer and vocal coach Maria Jagusz. A full performance of the Beggars Opera will then be followed by scenes from well-known operas including Cinderella, Magic Flute, Sweeney Todd and West Side Story. Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th July: The Cotswold Arcadians will stage, in their 20th Anniversary year, Cymbeline, King of Britain, one of Shakespeare's late 'romances'. In the gardens of Hatherop Castle, just 6 miles from Cirencester and 3 miles north of Fairford, this open-air production begins 7.30 pm. Audiences may picnic on the lawns from 6 pm. Set in 1st century Britain, around the time of the founding of the Roman fort of Corinium, and a short time before the building of Chedworth Roman Villa, this action-packed drama takes place against the backdrop of a Britain resentful of the influence of Imperial Rome.
